Nurturer is an assignment given during the Ceremony of Twelves. The nurturers look after the newchildren at the Nurturing Center until the Ceremony of Ones takes place, in which the newchildren are given names and presented to their new families. The nurturers must also try to improve the health of newborns who are not qualified to be identified as a "One". If the unqualified newborn fails in becoming healthier, the nurturer must release the baby.
